Indian delegates in SOCHUM (Julia Arija).

At the beginning of the morning, all delegates from different countries in the committees received a speech about  the conflict between Myanmar’s majority Buddhist population and the Rohingya, a primarily Muslim group, has its roots in centuries of history, but has being worse in recent years.

The conflict is being considered as a genocide carried out against this ethnic group that the country itself qualifies as immigrants and close their borders by preventing their entry and forcing their emigration, becoming refugees who mainly go to Bangladesh, Malasia, Indonesia, Tailandia looking for help.

In the middel of this human tragedy, the greatest expectation -and also the greatest disappointment- have been the current State Councilor and Nobel Peace Prime winner 1991, Aung Sang Suu Kyi. It is ironic, someone with a Nobel peace prize is allowing this violation of human rights, favoring a military government in charge of closing the country's borders to this population considered as immigrants and lacking rights such as:  they are not allowed to go to school , neither have more than one child or having an adequate healthcare.

The 0 session  has started with Myanmar's prupouse to start a discuss about the borders of their country. The country has insisted that they won't accept any type of illegal immigrants. To supporting this idea, the delegate  insist that Rohingya encourage terrorism. The Dominican Republic supports Myanmark's initiative and astutely uses the United States, a great power that doesn't want to accept inmigrants. Rohyngia is also supported by  Russia and China, they argue that it is better to let the government of Myanmark act.

The next point of discussion has been proposed by the delegate of Pakistan, this was to look for an alternative solution to Rohingya crisis.

Myanmar, Russia and Chinaa  have defended the idea that the initiatives of their Security Council that must be accepted internationally. However, some countries such as Australia or Canada are allowed to receiving refugees. Other countries have remained  of welcoming refugees such as Japan or the United States. This point of debate has ended with Pakistan focusing on the idea of giving an opportunity to this ethnic before expulsing them and the delegates tells Myanmar that even if it doesn't  accept this ethnic group as citizens of his country, Myanmar use to allow other international countries interested in  host the refugees.

The next point of discuss comes through the proposal of the delegate of Côte d'Ivoire.  Two countries which are United Kingdom and Indonesia, has been an idea to create an economic fund  to provide the necessary help to the principal house country of these refugees, Bangladesh and to the Rohingya. The United States has also offered to provide monetary assistance but this has generate critics from other countries.

Finally, the session ended with a proposal from Nepal to hold a unmoderaded caucus. All the delegates have come together to discuss different points, so tomorrow the session will continue at this point.
