The third day has touched the two main topics which DISEC discusses.
During the morning, the debate was around the USA Draft Resolution on the Arctic subject which was released yesterday. China responded with another Draft Resolution. The differences between them were clear; while the USA one rejected the invasion of non-Arctic Council members to the debate of any problem in that zone, the draft resolution from China called for the right to "A voice for the globe"in Arctic matters. China was totally against the militarization of the peace. Regarding this poing, the USA delegation answered with an appropriate quote "If you want peace, prepare for war". Continuing with the debate, China didn't want to intervene in national sovereignty and the delegate highlighted fearless the importance of ethnic minorities. Notwithstanding, Canada criticized smartly this point, claiming the hyprocisy of some states who defend the rights of the Arctic people destroying at the same time their homes in their own benefits. Finally, the USA Draft Resolution was voted and, surprisingly, passed with 12 positives votes to 11 negative ones. The time for amendments was not very useful since any of them (Israel, United Kingdom…) passed. The second session started with the Happy Birthday song and thanks to the coordination of the delegates, we all wished one of our mates a nice day. Apart from that, there were several carnations distributed among the delegations that made the second theme, Drones and its legality, slightly softer. Even though, in the working time, with the debate open, the countries were concentrated and focused on the matter. They were all fighting and launching attacks among them. On the one hand, mentioning the importance of the Human Rights and on the other hand, the relation some states have with terrorists groups (due to the selling of drones). With all the information above, we are expecting the tomorrow's session with urgency to see how everything comes to an end and how all the countries agree in such a delicate topic which is so important in the current times.
